Treatment Focus
The treatment focus will always be on conservative therapy. In patients requiring further intervention or those who have previously failed other options, then Interventional Pain Management can be pursued including injection therapy (epidurals, nerve blocks, ultrasound guided joint injections), radiofrequency ablation and for the right patients, minimally invasive operative treatments of the spine including vertebral augmentation and spinal cord stimulation.
Dr. Gutierrez specializes in neuromodulation, an umbrella term used in Pain Medicine to describe stimulation or direct administration of treatment, be it electrical or pharmacological, to the body’s nervous system or painful area. Dr. Gutierrez utilizes both temporary and permanent peripheral and spinal cord neurostimulator implant technology to address chronic pain. He will work collaboratively with your other providers including your Primary Care, Rheumatologist, Neurologist, or Surgeon to ensure your best care. Most importantly, Dr. Gutierrez will focus on integrating an exercise program back into your lifestyle with the intent of getting you back to functioning again.
